Feels Like Summer (Poem)

A Short Poem

James’s Word

June 18, 2020

The heat perpetrates the air

As the sun appears for the first time

Since last summer:

Joy, laughter and love

Intertwined making the heat bearable

But now the sun bears down

The heat blisters skin, head to toe:

Red with anxiety, burn and heartache

Yet summer feels like a chore

The slog, heat and sweat create tension-

Tears are formed and memories are forgotten

Of the summer that will always be the best.

Why not change that?
