Microorganisms and bacteria are omnipresent everywhere. No matter how much you watch and clean your hands, food, and the dishes, they’re like leeches – from 60% to 30% to 10%, they never really vanish do they?
However, don’t be misled by that fact. Not all bacteria are bad. Certain microorganisms are in fact helping the digestive system of the body and health in general.
But does that mean it’s okay to pick up a fruit that has been kept in a bowl for a day and eat it?
By no means is that a yes.
Food safety is fundamental to living a healthy lifestyle. If proper precautions are not taken, the body can fall prey to food poisoning, diarrhea, cholera, and other diseases that are transmitted through food and water.
Hence, it is important to maintain good hygiene conditions.
Some precautions that you can take are:
- Proper refrigeration of food.
Temperatures under certain levels can kill harmful microorganisms, thus helping in the preservation of food for longer periods. Clean sweep refrigerated food at least once a week.
- Boiling of food and water.
Just like freezing temperatures, there’s also a maximum temperature that bacterias can survive within. Boiling above that temperature kills those harmful microorganisms.
- Properly cleaning appliances and utensils.
Making sure that utensils have no lingering food particles, or even soap is as important as consumption of those that may be highly harmful to the body system.
- Sanitization of surfaces
It can help get rid of germs and transmittable diseases.
- And most importantly, the washing of hands.
Especially during these times of coronavirus, not washing hands not only makes you vulnerable to germs, but also a disease that’s currently taking over the world.
Keeping these small precautions in mind, make your lifestyle healthy. Good physical health is as important as mental health and the two are often correlated. So it is important to take care of yourself all around.
