Civil Unrest in America

2020 has been a wild year. From World War Three speculations, a global pandemic, a global lockdown, UFO sightings, deaths of worldwide influential figures, and a civil rights moment. For me, living in America during this year has been… eventful to say the least.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my country. Living here is a privilege that I am so very grateful to have.

One thing that has been difficult to see is the complete division of the American citizens that I have been witnessing over social media and within the news cycle.

From the pandemic to the Black Lives Matter movement, the American people have something to say about every single aspect. Myself included.

I love this. I feel like our collective “wokeness” as I like to call it has led/is leading to the change that our country needs. I can’t deny that it has been very difficult.

Since the end of March, I have changed forever. I’ve had many arguments with ignorant people online that I probably should not have had, I’ve researched things, I’ve analyzed trends, I’ve questioned, I’ve cried, I’ve reasoned. The lockdown really forced a lot of American people to sit at home and think. Read. Watch. That’s all we’ve had to do.

I really do believe that 2020 is the year of clear vision. We all wished for 20/20 vision, right? The funny thing is that we didn’t realize it would be this… clear.

My only home is that America never goes back to the way that it was before.
